Because UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was seen wearing a pair. “In a bid to present himself as young and hip… Sunak took an eternally cool sneaker, and ruined it for everyone,” added British GQ. It’s a far cry from the public reaction another political leader received after being spotted in a pair of sneakers. Mohd Rasfan/AFP/Getty ImagesSo why aren’t Sunak’s Sambas striking the same chord? Even the most ardent sneakerheads know there is a time and a place for a gum sole, and the British public have decided on-camera at 10 Downing Street is neither.

New York CNN —Nike Air Force 1 and Nike Pegasus sneakers are everywhere. The Air Force 1 and Pegasus are staples of Nike’s sneaker lineup, and some of Nike’s oldest sneaker lines. The Air Force 1’s are known for their all-white design, while the Pegasus have large Nike swooshes on their mid-sole. “We are pulling back supply of classics such as the Air Force 1, and we’re reducing supply of Pegasus.”Nike’s moves could also make it harder for consumers to find traditional white Air Force 1 sneakers and Pegasus versions at shoe stores. Sneaker collectors focus on limited-edition and special collaboration lines — not mass market lines like Air Force 1, he said.

In his brief remarks at the sneaker launch, Trump indicated the line could be an effort to reach out to younger supporters, saying, "We're going to turn this country around fast. TikTok is hiring staffers to sell pre-owned luxury items like bags and collectibles like sneakers. Its investment in pre-owned goods shows how far the company's "everything store" ambitions extend. It's hiring a "Head of Pre-Owned Luxury" operation lead in Seattle to develop a go-to-market strategy and build a team of sellers focused on pre-owned luxury items. TikTok's plan to invest more in pre-owned luxury sales arrives as some TikTok Shop merchants have already been testing selling pre-owned luxury goods like jewelry, watches, and Chanel handbags, The Fashion Law reported. Jamie Iannone, eBay's CEO, spoke with Insider about the next phase in the e-commerce giant's evolution. Iannone said eBay's size would empower it against emerging competitors such as TikTok and Shein. But the number of new eBay buyers grew for the second straight quarter, Iannone said. The next version of that product is set to use image recognition, allowing eBay's sellers to create a product listing based on a photo. When asked about new competitors such as TikTok, Shein, and Temu, Iannone said eBay was "focused on our strategy and how we win."

Amazon sellers told Wired that sellers on the ultra-cheap marketplace Temu are copying their listings. Sellers told the publication that their Amazon sales have recently declined. According to an article by tech publication Wired, Amazon sellers have discovered their products are being sold on the ultra-cheap marketplace Temu for less. While the site has been known to sell counterfeit and knockoff goods, in some cases, Temu sellers have copied product photos, descriptions, and keywords directly from the original Amazon listings. In 2020, Amazon established its Counterfeit Crimes Unit, which works with brands to identify and remove counterfeit products.

As part of its marketplace, Shein is offering a wide range of products from third-party sellers. Brands interested in selling on Shein must first reach $2 million in annual sales on Amazon, the Journal reported. Shein Marketplace sellers are eligible to receive incentives from the Chinese-owned company if they reach sales goals. For those that qualify, the company is offering big incentives to sell on Shein too. In the months following the marketplace launch, Shein has dealt with sellers offering counterfeit items on the platform.

Until recently, Shein has relied on sourcing its products through its on-demand manufacturing model. Last month, the Chinese-owned e-commerce company expanded its marketplace beyond clothing and introduced home appliances, electronics, gardening supplies, and kitchen utensils, among other categories. But to grow its offerings, the company took a page out of Amazon's Marketplace playbook and opened its marketplace to third-party retailers in May. In doing so, it may invite more of the same counterfeit and copyright infringement issues that Amazon's marketplace has faced. In 2020, Amazon established its Counterfeit Crimes Unit, which works with brands to identify and remove counterfeit products.

Sneakerheads on social media accused fast fashion giant Shein of selling fake Air Jordans. But on Temu, a bargain Chinese shopping app, similar Air Jordan knock-offs are proliferating, as both sites struggle to audit their third-party sellers. However, similar sneakers are still available on the ecommerce site Temu, which has grown in popularity as an online dollar store. When Insider searched the site for "Air Jordans," it returned more than 1,000 results which included several similar styles. The fake Jordans highlight an ongoing problem for e-commerce companies with marketplaces open to third-party vendors.

Kerstin and Spencer Block founded the resale chain Buffalo Exchange in 1974. Back then, secondhand clothing carried a stigma as a lower-class necessity, said Kerstin Block, the president and co-owner of Buffalo Exchange. The industry is expected to double in size, reaching $350 billion by 2027, and Buffalo Exchange is at the forefront of resale's emerging appeal. Customers took to social media to voice their displeasure with the company's Confirmed app. Among the issues, users reported crashes, error messages, and long wait times on draw results. Of the many silhouettes included in the restock, Yeezy Foam Runners, Yeezy Slides, and the "Pirate Black" 350 were the most coveted. Nike looks set to re-release the Air Jordan 1 "Lost & Found," next week, according to Complex. But many sneakerheads could not enter a draw for the wider release on the SNKRS app because of app crashes or frozen screens. Most sizes of the original release still go for at least double the $180 retail price on StockX. In the movie, Nike executives present Jordan with his first basketball shoe, the Air Jordan 1 "Chicago," the same colorway as the recent "Lost and Found" release. Nike will undoubtedly hope that the conversation surrounding the "Lost & Found" restock is focused on the sneakers and not any hiccups associated with its SNKRS app.

As part of a new business plan, Foot Locker will close hundreds of underperforming stores in malls. Although it also plans to open stores, Foot Locker expects to have 10% fewer locations by 2026. Foot Locker also reported quarterly earnings on Monday above forecasts, but it offered sales guidance lower than expected. While closing hundreds of underperforming mall-based stores, Foot Locker plans to open more than 300 "new concept" stores by 2026, including outside of malls. During the investor day presentation, Foot Locker CEO Mary Dillon said the store's "attracting an older and higher-income shopper."
Even so, don't expect to see more of the hottest Nikes and Jordans at Foot Locker stores. Mary Dillon started as Foot Locker CEO in September. Mary DillonSpeculation had been building about Foot Locker and Nike working more closely together again since December when Nike CEO John Donahoe mentioned spending time with Dillon on a Nike earnings call. As part of its new strategy, Foot Locker wants to double sales of non-Nike brands, such as Hoka On, and Crocs by 2026.
Many consumers hoping to grab a pair of the Nike Air Force 1 Low Tiffany & Co. "1837" missed out. Customers looking to buy the sneaker will now have to pay three times the $400 retail price. The Nike and Tiffany drop highlighted a few key hurdles for consumers who attempt to purchase limited-edition sneakers. For die-hard Tiffany fans newly introduced to sneaker culture, it was a rude awakening about how modern sneaker releases are very much a lottery. If not, there are plenty of other Air Force 1s to choose from.

I'll certainly take advantage of their periodic promotions on seller fees that I've seen be up to 50% off in the past.
